Keeping fit and healthy from head to toe – Hip and sexual organs
Today’s highlighted body regions are the hips, pelvic floor, sexual organs (womb, vulva, ovaries), or male sexual organs. Pay extra attention to these regions, exercise them, and look after them! Below you find some tips and recipes. But before here is some information about the historical context of ‘body regions’.
The system of the ‘body regions’
For thousands of years, physicians and healers believed that the gravitational forces of the moon and wider cosmos influenced different regions of the body as the lunar cycle progressed. Across many traditional teachings, it was understood that throughout each moon cycle, our energetic focus travels through the body from head to toe.
While this concept is more folkloric than medically proven, it offers a holistic time scale to care for ourselves. Whenever you see the relevant symbol, bring awareness to this region and create a rhythm of conscious self-care. This will, over time, support balance, well-being, and a deeper connection to our body.
Please remember this cycle is intended for general awareness, gentle exercise, prevention, and well-being. It is not a substitute for medical treatment or emergency care. Any health concerns or medical needs should always be guided by a qualified healthcare professional!
However, as Benjamin Franklin wisely wrote in 1736, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” These symbols serve as a gentle reminder to look after your body with regular movement, strengthening exercises, nourishment, and supportive routines — helping you stay healthy and more resilient, and more in tune with yourself. A consistent 15-minute daily program can ,over time, have enormous health benefits.
Conceive with the moon
Here is an article I originally wrote in 2014 called Conveice with the Moon. It is based on a book by the Czech doctor Eugen Jonas who treated women for infertility in the early 1950s and discovered a second cycle that he called The Cosmobiological cycle. This method is free and effective and puts women in control of their body, wherever they live as there is no need for prescriptions or tools.
Pelvic Floor Exercises
The menopause
Red Clover, Lady’s Mantel, Red raspberry leaf tea, and Lemon balm are all useful herbs to help you during menopause.
Menopause tea (you can also drink it before your period starts and if you suffer with PMT- premenstrual tensions)
1/2 cup lady’s mantle
1/2 cup red raspberry leaf
1/2 cup lemon balm
For larger quantities expand in this ratio and keep it in a large glass jar.
- Place all herbs in a dry glass jar with a lid and shake until they’re mixed up well. Alternatively, you can mix the herbs in a bowl and then add the mixture to the jar.
- To make one cup of tea all you need is 1 teaspoon of mixed herbs per cup of hot water. Put them in a sieve container and immerse them in your cup for a short period. Another option is to add 2-3 teaspoons in a small sieve and place it on top of your thermos flask or glass jug and slowly run the water that has boiled but slightly cooled to 80/90 degrees over the leaves. Then discard them. This makes a larger quantity and you can sip it over the morning until lunchtime.
For period pains and discomfort:
- Sitz bath: There you want a stronger mixture. Add 1-2 tablespoons of herbs to a pint-size (500ml) jug and fill it up with hot water. Leave to stand for 7-8 minutes and strain. Add this mixture to the bath water (run the water only to cover your private area and not higher) and remain in the bath for 15 minutes until the bath cools down. This is a great relief during your period, especially if you suffer from pain or PMS. You can top your sitz bath up with actual drinking cups of tea during the day (use the same mixture).
- Begin drinking the tea about a week before you are expecting your period.
- If you have problems with heavy cramping, get a hot water bottle and place it on your lower belly. Then sip this tea at the same time to soothe this area. If you need to work you still have to rely on pain medication, but try this natural alternative when you can.
Low Libido
Another hot topic is the lack of sexual appetite. Some people are born with more sexual appetite than others and that is perfectly normal. Whatever the appetite, if it works for you, then there is no issue. It only becomes one, when it decreases or does not match your partner’s natural appetite. Stress and worries take a toll on libido. So the first rule here is to relax, meditate, and find peace of mind. A relaxed person finds sex more enjoyable. And in a long relationship, you can experiment with gadgets to bring back a new sense of adventure. The fight food can also help your libido. Here is an article that might be of interest to you.
