Keeping fit and healthy from head to toe – Stomach, gallbladder, breast, spleen and liver

Today this body region is especially susceptible to exercise and looking after it. Today’s highlighted regions are the stomach, gallbladder, spleen, breast, and liver.

This is quite a big topic area. Apart from the kidney, the liver and stomach absorb a lot of toxins and need to be occasionally cleansed. You can successfully do this with a liquid fast day (especially during a waning moon phase or even better close to the new moon). Or you might prefer a more comprehensive fasting program twice a year or a combination of both. If you receive our monthly  LWTM newsletter, we usually send out a detox and fasting guide in early spring. Overhaul your diet:  This is of course something you hear every day. But it is true. Hippocrates already told us “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

But by ‘food’ he meant fresh, seasonal vegetables and fruit, good oils, fresh fish and meat, and eggs (if you eat it).  Try to limit your intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates.  Instead opt for complex carbohydrates, like wholesome bread with seeds, quinoa, organic cracked wheat with vegetables, etc. Definitely no fizzy, sugary drinks, sweets, white bread, danish bakery goods, and any sort of cakes. Maybe homemade on a very occasional basis.
If you do crave anything sweet, have a ripe banana, mango slice, or a piece of good-quality dark chocolate.

To take it a step further, why not attempt a liver detox. You can get milk thistle extracts (best in drop forms) and follow the instructions. Milk thistle can help rebuild healthy liver cells and help the liver repair itself, especially after alcohol abuse and too much food. You can also use a liver cleanse as a preventative measure (which is the most effective way to use it).

If you are a coffee lover you will be pleased to know that 2 coffees per day help the liver detox, as will green tea and turmeric tea.
