Keeping fit and healthy from head to toe – Kidneys and bladder

Today this body region is especially susceptible to exercise and looking after it. The highlighted region is the kidneys and the bladder.

Look after your kidneys

The kidneys and the bladder are the body’s filtration system. It is very important to flush your system through and use Liquid Fast Days at New Moon or Waning Moon. If you want to strengthen your kidneys and bladder, make tea from one of the herbs mentioned below. You can also use a mixture of some or all. This tea you can sip throughout the morning/day (best to carry it in an insulated thermos flask). You can even add a dash of fresh lemon juice.

Herbs for this region
  • Dandelion tea.
  • Marshmallow root.
  • Juniper.
  • Nettles.
  • Parsley.

Detox Tea Mixture: Mix some fennel seeds, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds, add pieces of fresh ginger and some lemon juice, and add some fresh turmeric root. Add to a teapot and add hot water, leave to cool, and sip throughout the day/morning.
During hot weather add a glass of coconut water to your daily routine. It is one of the best ways to hydrate your body.
In general, make sure to drink enough water or herbal teas to stay well hydrated. This is the best way to keep your kidneys and bladder in good shape.

Epsom salt bath

Bathing in Epsom salts or having a sauna/steam bath is good to get rid of toxins.

A healthy body relies on the right ph balance. A normal blood pH level is 7.35 to 7.45 on a scale of 0 to 14, where 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most alkaline. If the lungs or kidneys are malfunctioning, your blood’s ph level can become imbalanced.

Eat more alkaline food

Many people are slightly too acidic.  Sugar, meat, fish, dairy products, flour, alcohol, tea, and coffee are all acid-forming products.

You need to eat more alkaline food in the form of dark leafy vegetables like spinach, avocados, miso products, tomatoes, almonds, garlic, onions, and parsley. The one food that is the most alkaline is also very counterintuitive. Did you know that lemons are actually the most alkaline food there is?  All other citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges, limes, and tangerines are actually acidic.  Lemons are the only alkaline citrus fruit! This is the reason why lemons are used for cleaning and sprinkling some lemon juice on a breaded chicken, will help to alkalize it and easier to digest.
One of the easiest and most pleasant ways to help balance your body’s ph level is to drink Lemon Water.
