Your Personal Money Date
Your Personal Money Date
Today is a great day to create a personal money date. I know, it doesn’t sound glamorous or exciting, and it’s often something we happily postpone. But the truth is, we all have to sort out our finances sooner or later. So instead of dreading it, let’s make it as pleasant and manageable as possible.
Put on some music you love. Make yourself a coffee, pour a glass of wine, or choose something else that puts you in a good mood. Then gather all your receipts and paperwork. Sort them into clear categories and place them into labelled envelopes or folders. If time allows, add the figures up and record the totals in a simple spreadsheet. This small act alone creates clarity — and makes the end of the tax year feel far less overwhelming.
Doing this regularly, and this symbol should prompt you to create a sound routine, so it’s not too overwhelming at the end of the tax year!
You’ll quickly notice that tackling finances in small, regular chunks is not nearly as painful as it feels when everything piles up. The most important part is setting up a system. Yes, that takes a little effort at first — but once it’s in place, maintaining it becomes easy and almost automatic.
Let this symbol serve as your gentle reminder to pause, check in, and stay on top of things — a financial pit stop to stay on top of all your finances, receipts, and investments.
Personal fulfilment and peace of mind go hand in hand with financial freedom — not necessarily wealth, but the comforting feeling that you are not drowning in paperwork or debt, and that you are consciously in control of your financial life.
Here are some of my personal favourite books on this subject:
