Compost and fertilize
Compost is one of nature’s gifts. When cooking, tip your organic waste (like fruit and vegetable peels, tea bags, coffee grinds, egg shells, etc) into a little waste bin with a lid. When full, empty this bin into your compost bin in the garden. This is a great way to turn your kitchen waste into rich, fertile compost earth. The whole process takes 6-9 months.
When you see the compost symbol, use it to start a heap (see below) or bring out the compost and scatter it over the lawn, around bushes, and sprinkle it over flower beds. You may want to use a garden sieve.
I have given dates for all year round. But if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, use March to November, weather depending. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, do the opposite like September to June.
