Fertility treatment, menstruation and menopause

Today’s topic has to do with sexual health, conception, menopause, and menstruation. As these topics are highly individual we cannot put a date in a general calendar that fits everyone. But it is a good day to read up on these subjects and look up additional resources.

Conceive with the moon

female fertilityHere is an article I originally wrote in 2014 called Conveice with the Moon. It is based on a book by the Czech doctor Eugen Jonas who treated women for infertility in the early 1950s and discovered a second cycle that he called The Cosmobiological cycle. This method is free and effective and puts women in control of their body, wherever they live as there is no need for prescriptions or tools.

Looking at my friends, infertility is definitely an issue. I have been familiar with Dr. Eugen Jonas’ cosmobiological method for a long time and it has helped me to conceive 2 beautiful boys. He started this method during the 1950ies and this totally natural method can of course also be used for the opposite – a natural way of birth control that is as effective as the pill. This method works, regardless of where in the world you live. There is no gadget or medication needed, just a calendar and a method of calculation.

The menopause

Mostly described as a curse and until recently barely mentioned. It is encouraging that at least here in the UK, the debate about menopause has started and some real practical help is on hand. Whatever your thoughts about HRT, family history, or personal preference, I think it is really important to make an informed choice. Here is an app created by  Dr Louise Newson called The Balance App. She also has a very informative podcast. My recommendation is not to wait until menopause hits, but to get the information before you turn 45. By then you will have entered the peri-menopause and having this knowledge will ease your transition into and through the menopause.
Herbs for this region:

Red Clover, Lady’s Mantel, Red raspberry leaf tea, and Lemon balm are all useful herbs to help you during menopause.

Menopause tea (you can also drink it before your period starts and if you suffer with PMT- premenstrual tensions)

1/2 cup lady’s mantle
1/2 cup red raspberry leaf
1/2 cup lemon balm

For larger quantities expand in this ratio and keep it in a large glass jar.

  • Place all herbs in a dry glass jar with a lid and shake until they’re mixed up well. Alternatively, you can mix the herbs in a bowl and then add the mixture to the jar.
  • To make one cup of tea all you need is 1 teaspoon of mixed herbs per cup of hot water. Put them in a sieve container and immerse them in your cup for a short period. Another option is to add 2-3 teaspoons in a small sieve and place it on top of your thermos flask or glass jug and slowly run the water that has boiled but slightly cooled to 80/90 degrees over the leaves. Then discard them.   This makes a larger quantity and you can sip it over the morning until lunchtime.

For period pains and discomfort:

  • Sitz bath: There you want a stronger mixture. Add 1-2 tablespoons of herbs to a pint-size (500ml) jug and fill it up with hot water.  Leave to stand for 7-8 minutes and strain.  Add this mixture to the bath water (run the water only to cover your private area and not higher) and remain in the bath for 15 minutes until the bath cools down. This is a great relief during your period, especially if you suffer from pain or PMS. You can top your sitz bath up with actual drinking cups of tea during the day (use the same mixture).
  • Begin drinking the tea about a week before you are expecting your period.
  • If you have problems with heavy cramping, get a hot water bottle and place it on your lower belly. Then sip this tea at the same time to soothe this area. If you need to work you still have to rely on pain medication, but try this natural alternative when you can.
