Detoxifying treatments that calm your mind and soul
Release, Restore & Rebalance
Today is a great day for gentle detoxifying practices. Anything that helps release excess water retention, ease stress, and calm anxiety. Think less force, more flow.
Meditation: A Small Daily Anchor
Add just three minutes of meditation to your daily routine. It may sound insignificant, but practiced consistently, this small habit can be deeply transformative.
Done regularly, even briefly, meditation:
- calms the nervous system
- supports better sleep
- steadies emotions
- creates a lasting sense of inner balance and well-being
- calms the nervous system
Three minutes is achievable on even the busiest days, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s a habit that you can easily stick to.
Teas to Calm to calm your mind
Herbal teas are one of the simplest ways to support relaxation from within. Choose one that resonates with you. Take a thermos flask (1 liter) and put a small sieve on the top with 2-3 tea spoons of your chosen loose tea. Once the kettle has boiled, gently pour the boiling water through the sieve. Prepared in this way, lets you drink a lot more herbal tea than simply infusing it in a cup, where usually 1-3 cups is the maximum you can drink.
Cowslip Flower Tea
Traditionally used to ease tension and promote rest.
- Use 4–6 g (about 1 tbsp) dried yellow cowslip flowers
- Pour over boiling water
- Steep for 8–10 minutes
Drink when feeling stressed or before bedtime.
Poppy Flower Tea
This delicate red flower has long been associated with relaxation. Babies who would not stop crying would be given poppy tea to calm them down.
- Prepare using the same method as cowslip tea
- For safety and consistency, ready-made poppy leaf tea from a pharmacy or health food shop is recommended
Ribbed Melilot Tea
Once widely available and already well used by the Romans. This yellow-blossomed plant takes its name from the Latin word for honey. Traditionally used to flavour desserts and sweets, it is also valued for its calming qualities. Melilot has been used to:
- support venous circulation
- encourage relaxation and sleep
- gently ease tension
Use sparingly and enjoy as part of an evening wind-down.
Linden Flower tea:
They are sometimes better known as lime flowers. Drink it as tea (3-5g flowers per cup of hot water, up to 4 cups per day) or make a strong decoction (60-70g for 1 liter of water), leave to cool to lukewarm and use as a compress or beauty water to cleanse and tighten the skin, soothe itchy and sunburnt skin. Taken as a tea, linden flower tea
- promotes sleep,
- helps with digestion
strengthens the immune system - calms the nerves
Further Supportive Practices
- Hydrotherapy — warm baths, alternating showers, or foot baths can help release tension and reset the nervous system
- Gentle detox routines — light meals, hydration, rest, and simplicity rather than restriction
Today is not about doing more, but about doing less — with intention.
A calm body creates a calm mind, and from that space, balance naturally returns.
Remember: a relaxed mind achieves more real results than a stressed, exhausted one!
Use hydrotherapy to release stress and bring your body back into balance.
