The Moon cycle starts and ends with a New Moon. It is the time when the moon lies directly between the sun and the earth and no sunlight can be reflected back to earth. All we see is void, no light, and guidance in the nocturnal sky. Traditionally this has been a time for reflection, introversion, and most importantly new beginnings.

Long before electric street lighting, it was difficult to gather or travel during this time and people stayed at home, sitting around the fire, telling stories and planning for the cycle ahead. This time corresponds to the season of winter.

It is very easy to stay on a  well-trodden path of daily recurring habits. But to stop, think about where to go next, and even change old habits and carve out a new future is very hard. We often procrastinate and only external circumstances force us to change our ways. But this is a rather painful way. Would it not be better to evaluate your life on a regular basis, even when everything is going well? The – Mend your roof whilst the sun is shining – approach

I think this approach sounds more sensible. The LWTM Goal Planner is just the tool to help you with this change. It forces you to think about your life in detail and then implement changes in small baby steps. So you change gradually and holistically.

Generally speaking, the best time to tackle this ‘overhaul of your life’ is at New Moon. Evaluate your current life situation and check at every New Moon how you progress.  Doing this exercise will improve your life immensely.

What is a Black Moon?

This is a rather rare occasion (about every 2.5 years) and refers to the 2nd New Moon in one calendar month. A Black Moon is seen as a real turning point, either globally or in your private life. If it comes up, seize the moment and introduce change into your life. It may be painful at the time, but over time will be very fruitful and rewarding.
In order to let something new in you have to let something old out.

What does a Black Moon mean for you?

During this special time, take some time out of your hectic schedule, meditate and really listen to your gut feeling. What do you really like? What provides you with a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness? Write a bucket list and over the next months and years, try to tick these goals off. If you have yet to make a bucket list (your top 20 things to do in your life), then start one now.

Another concept is to create a vision board. On this board, you cut out images that fill you with a sense of joy, excitement, and happiness. Spend at least 1 minute per day to look at this board and visualize all the events you see.  It is a quick exercise, but by visually reinforcing your ‘new life’ the brain will subtly behave as this has already happened.  It is quite remarkable and it definitely works, as our subconscious mind is more powerful than you think.  As they say – seeing is believing!

We often procrastinate and need to be forced to change by external circumstances. But would it not be easier to prevent this painful way of change by regularly evaluating our lives?

TODAY WE SEE A NEW MOON 

New Moon is Day 1 and Day 28/29 in the moon cycle. It is the time when one moon cycle comes to an end and another one is starting up. We see only darkness as the moon lies between the sun and the earth and no light can be reflected back to earth.
In practical terms, the New Moon is the best time to look after yourself, reflect, and plan ahead. This is your very own pitstop of life. The time to step out of the race and make sure you are still on the right path ahead.

When you sign up for our newsletter the LWTM Holistic Lifegoal Planner is included in the freebies package. The first time it does take a little time to set it up. But after this has been done, all you need is an hour or so on a  quiet weekend or a day around New Moon to update it.  To remind you, we have even created a symbol for this task.

Disconnect everything for this task and really immerse yourself into the world of ‘life goal planning’. It is not selfish or vain, it is really important.  Take your current planner and tick off all the tasks you have achieved in the current moon cycle. Reward yourself and celebrate! This is important as it creates a subconscious desire to do more of the same.  Everything that has not been accomplished goes back on the list until it is finally done.

LOOKING GOOD:  All cleansing, diminishing procedures are great. From body peeling to waxing your bikini line. It is a new start, maybe your make up bag or clothes drawer needs a cleanout and overhaul.

FEELING FANTASTIC: Today is a great time for a Liquid Fast Day. Give your digestion a day of rest. Just simple soups, smoothies, herbal teas. If you feel you need food, have a salad or plain rice cracker, something very quick to do and easy and healthy to digest.  Remember – It is only one day and over time you will get used to these Liquid Fast Days and it does get easier and easier with each New Moon. Get busy with lifestyle planning and time will fly. Make a big jug of herb tea and sip it through the morning and another after your soup at lunch. Do this the same quiet day as your goal planning, both go well hand in hand.

HAPPY HOUSE: Great time for weeding, pruning, decluttering. Nothing too strenuous if you are on a detox, just gently clear your space of unwanted clutter and air your home. It is time to let some new fresh energy in.

FINANCE/VOCATION: Many people who are good with money have one big secret – they have ‘money dates’. Where they check their investment and plan ahead. Try to pick a day around the New Moon – then you have an automatic money date and some goals can go onto your goal planner for the Month Ahead.

FEELING LOVE: Of all the times during the moon cycle, the New Moon is a total Me-Day! It is a day to love just one person – YOU! This is not selfish, but you need to look after yourself in order to be strong, balanced and fun to be around. Let people know well in advance that you are having your own personal day off to sort your head out – you don’t need to elaborate. And then really use this time wisely. In a few months, you will see that it does make a difference! Your finances will be organized and you can follow a clear path ahead. It is a wonderful feeling to be in control of your life!

TODAY WE SEE A WANING MOON 

The moon starts the journey from Full Moon to New Moon. This process takes 14 days and is called the Waning Moon. The further the moon travels towards the New Moon, the less light we see.

The Waning Moon is the best time to work hard, lose weight, and work hard on the goals you formulated at New Moon

If you need to shed some pounds, try to do this during these two weeks. We tend to be more active now and as a result may eat less, as we are too busy with other things.

The Waning Cycle can be subdivided into: 
The Waning Gibbous Moon or the 3rd Quarter
The Waning Half Moon which marks the halfway point between the Full Moon and the New Moon
The Waning Crescent Moon or the 4th Quarter 

LOOKING GOOD:  the time for Body peeling and brushing routine, extra cleansing, and hair removal.

FEELING FANTASTIC: the time for therapies, meditation, and increase your exercise regime.

HAPPY HOUSE: the time a busy time in the garden, digging, weeding, pruning, pest control and composting.

FINANCE/VOCATION: this is the time to put your head down and get on with your work. All those ideas will just stay concepts if you don’t put them into action.

FEELING LOVE: in relationships with others there are times when we need to ‘straighten things out’. Now is a good time to tackle this, ideally not too close to Full Moon.

TODAY WE SEE A FULL MOON 

 Today is a Full Moon. The moon is now 14 days old and comes to lie opposite the sun. Therefore the whole moon is illuminated and we see a Full Moon. 

The Full Moon is a great time to show off expertise, party, getting married, or launch a product/service.

When it comes to weight it is the easiest time to put weight on.  But then again it is just a few days and you may as well enjoy yourself. Traditionally diet regimes started on the day of the Full Moon.

LOOKING GOOD:  a great time for spa treatments, hair cuts for limp hair, make-overs and to start a diet program

FEELING FANTASTIC: If you are a painter/writer, the Full Moon is a great time to show off your work like a first view or book reading. Travel and creative breaks also score highly.

HAPPY HOUSE: great time for anything to do with herbs, baking, decorating, and entertaining.

FINANCE/VOCATION: If you launch a new product or presentation aim for the Full Moon. A new job or anything idea related also does well.

FEELING LOVE: How many poems and songs connect the Full Moon to love. It is still a great time to do something special for your partner. But it is also a great time for parties, weddings and any kind of social event.

 The Waxing Moon

TODAY WE SEE A WAXING MOON 

The moon is rotating around the earth and is illuminated by the sun. The more it waxes (grows) the more of a crescent we see a Waxing Moon.  This process takes around 14 days.

This is the time for absorbing, learning, gather inspiration, brainstorming, and starting/visualizing new projects.

As the moon grows, so do we. People seem hungrier and gain weight easier. It is a great time for those who find it hard to put weight on (say after an operation) or who suffer from an eating disorder.

The Waxing Moon phases is subdivided into

The Waxing Crescent Moon  or The First Quarter
The Waxing Half Moon – This marks the halfway point between the New Moon and the Full Moon
The Waxing Gibbous Moon  or Second Quarter

 

If you struggle with too much weight, it is crucial that you watch this time. Don’t lose weight, rather stabilize your weight and aim not to gain any more.

LOOKING GOOD:  the time for any procedures that nourish and heal the skin. Anti-ageing treatments also fall into this group.

FEELING FANTASTIC: the time for self-development, extra creativity and travel

HAPPY HOUSE: the time for extra baking, decorating, planting and repotting

FINANCE/VOCATION: the time for new ideas, brainstorming and starting a new job

FEELING LOVE: the time for reconnecting with old friends, charity work and pep talks
